75k/50k/30k Mountain Bike race
Sunday Feb 6th 2011:
Puhoi Village.
Hibiscus Coast,
Auckland, New Zealand
Entries closed 12.01pm Jan 21st
This is a fun and challenging event open to anyone with a mountain bike. But you better do some training! Beginners, novices, veterans and elite riders are all invited to come out and enjoy a great day of riding/racing.
If your planning to ride the Colville Connection/Karapoti or any other endurance MTB event this is the perfect pre-event training.
The Puhoi Marathon starts at the Historic Puhoi Village.
This NEW awesome course is challenging (not to technical, although there are a couple of tricky descents) with a nice combination of 55% private forest tracks and roads, 42% dirt roads, and 3% sealed road. NEW additional 4k of magic forest single track in 2011!
Both courses are challenging (just look around you! the country side is steep in places). The views are amazing from both sides of the valley.
The 75k does the first loop through the forest twice, the 75k/50k and 30k also do the additional fire rd loop on private property on Moirs hill. All courses make their way back to Puhoi on the secret track and ridgeline fire rd.
Elevation stats:
75k (Approx 2350 metres of Climbing/Decsending)
50k (Approx 1800 metres of Climbing/Decsending)
30k (Approx 900 metres of Climbing/Decsending)
We have decided to NOT put up the course maps to protect the privacy of the various private property owners and stakeholders.
Please note: All private properties (5) cannot be accessed at any other time other than this event. That means NO PRE riding or POST the course. Do not mountain bike through these areas from any direction or you will face fines and prosecution. Some areas have poision laid and continuing animal control taking place.
